We were selected to take part in the TANDEM Community and Participation exchange programme. The programme was designed to support cultural organisations working in the field of community and participation to build long-term working relationships within the EU, and for one year the programme selected and supported, 4 cultural managers/project coordinators from the Netherlands and 6 of their peers from Germany, Belgium or the UK to form four ‘tandems’.
Working in partnership with Janine Weidanz, Project Manager, .lkj, Magdeburg, Germany and Doreen Hartman, Heritage Education Manager, Kunstbedrijf, Arnhem, Netherlands, Flo-culture provided digital storytelling training. lkj and Kunstbedrijf carried out workshops with members of their communities in Magdeburg and Arnhem. These stories are now available to view on the Memory Box app.
The stories are also housed in custom designed ‘physical memory box’s’ which contain an iPod that plays the stories recorded during the sessions, photographs to acompany the stories, and a bespoke map with the story locations pinned. The idea is to pass the Memory Box TANDEM boxes around community groups and settings.
