FAQs

Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience that combines digital content (2D and 3D objects, text, animations, and films) with the real world in real time. AR can be used to attach virtual digital content to physical objects or places.
In the context of AR digital tours, we use digital items (objects/animations) as rewards for solving clues and finding the correct location of hidden rewards. We adapt these items so they can operate as part of an augmented reality experience – hence, we call them AR rewards.
When a player looks at their AR rewards through their camera phone, it seems like it is in the real world next to them. By moving their AR reward around their screen, players can set up some unique photos that are worth sharing. description

An AR (short for augmented reality) digital tour is the generic name we give to any tour, trail, scavenger hunt or treasure trail made using our innovative app builder platform.
Every AR digital tour we create is given a unique name, app icon and design theme.
AR rewards and other features are customised to reflect your branding and engagement requirements.
Individual AR tours or trails are made up of a collection of AR rewards hidden at locations or exhibits you want visitors to discover.
AR digital tours are designed to inspire visitors to explore and learn more about your exhibits, sites and stories.

After downloading from the app store, AR digital tours can be used without Wi-Fi or mobile data.

AR rewards are digital files, images, 3D objects, films, and animations adapted to operate as part of an augmented reality experience. When seen through a phone camera, they look like they are in the real world.
They are usually based on the tour quest, challenge, location, exhibit, or story they are linked to, such as an animated spider crab next to an exhibit of a spider crab or a dragon next to a story about ancient myths. Players can move and rotate AR rewards on their phone screens, allowing them to create and share out-of-this-world photos.
In the context of AR digital tours, players win AR rewards when they solve clues that help them find hidden artefacts. Players are encouraged to find and collect hidden artefacts and AR rewards as part of a challenge or quest set by the creators of the AR digital tour.

It can take 3-7 weeks to create and publish your AR digital tour app on The App Store and Google Play, depending on your internal processes and the range and complexity of the AR rewards you want to include in your tour.
To help you get off the mark quickly and easily, we offer a ‘Getting Started’ half-day on-site workshop with your team. This covers:
• Deciding on the challenge or quest you want to set
• Selecting the sites/objects/stories you want to showcase in your tour or quest
• Drafting clues and picking artefacts and AR rewards
Alternatively, teams can complete this work independently using the templates we will provide.
-
We can create the design elements you need, or you can use your own design team. Reusing your existing assets can be a good idea and saves money.
For AR rewards, we can create new ones or modify digital files you already have.
-
The app design theme can be created to accommodate your branding guidelines.

Most visitors currently download AR digital tour apps at the first point of contact during their welcome experience. Staff suggestions and signage at this location effectively encourage app downloads.
We recommend that clients include app download instructions in their digital ticket confirmations.
